ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Golden Bay High School has a proud history of academic excellence, extracurricular activities and high standards of behaviour. International students are selected on both academic and personal prowess.

Intensive English language courses are offered to students with limited English. A full assessment is made on arrival to determine class level and the number of hours of English a student needs, and an individual study programme is prepared.

For senior academic courses, students must satisfy the schools English Language requirements. Students may be required to show that they are sufficiently proficient in English to undertake their proposed course of study.

All students must supply appropriate educational qualifications and reports from their school, which satisfy both New Zealand and Golden Bay High School standards and requirements. The student must also supply a personal recommendation from their school.

Each application is individually considered.

If a student wishes to withdraw from a course then this must have the approval of the International Director. If a student is failing to attend school regularly then the procedures relating to non-attendance will apply, and parents will be informed. If the non-attendance or failure to maintain course requirements continues, then procedures relating to this will be actioned – see flowchart of procedures relating to non-attendance of international students.

On entry to the school, all students and parents are asked to sign a contract with Golden Bay High School. Failure to comply with the contract may mean a student's place is terminated.

All international students are subject to the regulations outlined in the Education Act of 1989.
