Golden Bay High School has a total of 160 computers. We have taken full advantage of the Ministry of Education Teacher Laptop scheme (TELA) which has enabled most teachers to have a laptop. Every classroom has at least 1 computer, many have 2 or 3, nearly all have data projectors. We have 2 ICT rooms with 23 computers in each lab along with additional ports for laptops. We have 8 computers in the Library and 6 computers in the Technology Department for use with Robotics.

All computers are on a fully integrated, stable, gigabit fibre-optic network. We are running our Windows 2008r2 server in a virtualised HyperV environment on a quad core dell server with 12gb of RAM and 4tb of storage space. The operating system used on all computers in 2012 will be Windows 7 along with the industry standard Microsoft Office 2010. We have 1 Apple G4 Macbook which is used in the Photography department. Each student has their own login name and password and a roaming profile (which enables them to access their work from any computer in the school), students also have access to colour printers, filtered internet, general educational software such as atlases and encyclopaedias and a wide range of software and other shared resources. Staff use 'Google Apps for Education' for email, calendar and sites and have an online booking system for classrooms and equipment.

Golden Bay High School also has a range of digital cameras, digital video cameras, scanners, data projectors, televisions, DVD/Video players and extra laptops for use by students and staff.

A Network Administrator and a Computer Technician are onsite to maintain and develop the network.
