Golden Bay High School has a total of 140 computers. We have taken full advantage of the Ministry of Education Teacher Laptop scheme (TELA) which has enabled most teachers to have a laptop. Every classroom has at least 1 computer, many have 2 or 3. We have 2 ICT rooms with data projectors to assist with ICT teaching. We have 8 computers in the Library and 6 computers in the Technology Department for use with Robotics. All computers are on a fully integrated, stable, gigabit fibre-optic network. The 3 Servers run Windows 2003 Server and the operating system used on all computers is Windows XP along with the industry standard Microsoft Office 2007. We have 1 Apple G4 Macbook which is used in the Photography department. Each student has their own login name and password and a roaming profile (which enables them to access their work from any computer in the school), students also have access to colour printers, filtered internet, general educational software such as atlases and encyclopaedias and a wide range of software and other shared resources. Golden Bay High School also has a range of digital cameras, digital video cameras, scanners, data projectors, televisions, DVD/Video players and extra laptops for use by students and staff. A Network Administrator and a Computer Technician onsite maintain and develop the network. |
