Te Waka Kura o Mohua has a wide range of summer and winter sporting opportunities.  

Because of our climate and beautiful surroundings, we can offer activities such as tramping, caving, rock climbing, fishing, boating, and mountain biking.

We can also offer volleyball, table tennis, horse riding, rugby, tennis, rock climbing, soccer, squash, hockey, netball, basketball, golf, at both social and competitive level and many other sports.  We have winter and/or summer sports exchanges with Nelson Preparatory School, Collingwood Area School, Tapawera Area School, Garin College and participation in Top of the South Year 7&8 Tournament, and Year 9-13 Winter Tournaments.

Students are given opportunities to develop their social and movement skills and are encouraged to develop more responsibilities for their future health, recreational and sporting futures.

Students will develop leadership, teamwork, communication, determination, confidence, integrity, and many other skills through physical and mentally demanding real world activities.

The school organises a comprehensive EOTC programme each year.  Each trip is carefully planned with the needs and strengths of each particular year group in mind.  In some instances this programme may be changed because of the mix of students, the staff available and other factors.

Some camps offer fundraising opportunities to reduce costs.

Many subjects have field trips to apply classroom learning in the wider environment.  Those field trips held in Years 11-13 are detailed in course information booklets.  In addition there are school exchanges and cultural activities.

​Parents will get adequate notice of these trips and events.  Financial hardship will not disqualify a student from going on a field trip.  Please contact the Guidance Counsellor or the teacher in charge of the activity if finance is a problem.
