A WORD FROM OUR HEALTH NURSE - Caroline Jones
I’m Caroline Jones and have been living and working in Golden Bay for 20 years. I am Mum to Zak 21, Elliott 19 and Simone 12 and long term partner to Pete. I have been working with young people for over 20 years firstly as a school nurse in Whanganui, then as a sexuality educator for Family Planning and now as a Practice Nurse in Golden Bay. I am very excited to be involved at Golden Bay High School and am committed to the health and well-being of our community.
The free confidential non-judgmental service will offer assessment and advice for all health concerns such as:
Skin checks, acne, moles
Puberty and periods
Sexual Health and STI checks
Diet and weight management
Alcohol and drugs
Urinary tract infections
Relationships and family concerns
Access to counsellors, doctors and other health professionals
Plus much much more!!!
I work in close relationship with the GP’s at the Golden Bay Community Health so I can also support young people to make appointments and gain information about prescriptions. I will also be looking forward to meeting all senior students for a HEADSS assessment. This is a psycho-social tool that has been found to be very useful to identify needs, particularly for this age group.
If you have any questions about this exciting new service available for our students, please leave a message for me at the main school office and I will call you back.
Looking forward to your support with this service. Please encourage students as this is a fantastic opportunity that we would love to see expand in the school community!
With kind regards,
