Golden Bay High School’s Library caters for approx. 300 students and staff and has over 6000 items on the library catalogue. It is open on school days from 8.45am to 3.15pm. Our school librarians are Yvonne Whiting and Angela Berkett. The librarians are assisted in the library at lunchtime by student librarians. The librarians are available to help students find recreational reading, relevant material for research and support classroom teaching.
Students are encouraged to read and to support this we have a DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) programme in place where the students literally ‘drop everything and read’ for 15 minutes a day twice a week. New books can be viewed on the display stand in the Library, where they are changed weekly, or on the Home page of Library Search (link below). Students are encouraged to reserve any book titles that interest them.
We have six desktop computers and colour printer/copier available for student use. Data projectors, cameras, laptops and chromebooks are available to book on our booking system by staff.
